Hibiscus Hula Beach Cottage, Steps to Anahola Bay, TVNC #5067

The house was in the perfect location , with just a short walk to the beach. The owners who live behind the house are very friendly. The master bed was a little hard for our liking, and the shower was very short. My 6’1 husband could barely fit under it. Also the house is not very sound proof . But like I said before the location was well worth it!!!

It was an amazing experience. House was better than we expected. I didn't have good experience with Airbnb before but this was the best. From the first second I realized that this is amazing place. We sepend a lot of time on the deck and walk every morning on the beach. Kids enjoyed outdoors showers after a day of beach and travel. It's just perfect

This is the second time we’ve stayed here as a family, and it is such a special place for us. We woke up every morning and walked to the beach for sunrise and then were able to go to and from the house as our home base. I love how close it is to everything on the north side and the east/south side of the island. We’ll be back as long as they’ll have us.

This cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated with Hawaiian quilt blocks and hibiscus artwork. The kitchen had all the pots and pans we needed to cook our meals. The downstairs shower is fun and we loved the artwork there as well It is great to be able to walk across the street to the beach. The only downside is that some nights there is noise from the beach campground. Overall this house was wonderful. A great place to get away. The owners were responsive and friendly and ready to help with suggestions of where to shop and what to visit.

If you're looking for a place to Kauai, stop your search, and book the Hibiscus Hula Cottage now. It is absolutely adorable, across from the beach, and has everything you need for your stay. The team was extremely communicative and kind. It was nice to be away from the touristy condos, yet it's located so close to all the best places to visit. It's a perfect home base to visit the North Shore, Western & Southern coasts, as well as Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Parks.

Very comfortable house just across the street the street and down the street from beach. Great swimming beach. House is on deadend street so little trafic. Note there are stairs to access the house and stairs to get to the shower in the basement. Half bath on main floor. Very livable setup for the price point. Owners live in the backyard, very friendly and helpful. Great view of mtns out back windows. Has AC in main room, but not in bedrooms. But, most nights we left the windows open and let the island breeze do its thing, very comfortable and great listening to the ocean accross the street. Has cookout area rt off garage behind house, we did not use, but nice area. Has beach towels, boogie board (we bought), couple umbrellas, beach mats, coolers in basement to use while there. Short walk to beach from house. Lots of closet space in house, kitchen well stocked. Mgt very accommodating for both check in and out.

We arrived slightly early without a hitch (besides the car rental) or a problem with owners, maybe an hour. The place was everything we wanted. Old, simplistic and well thought out. We appreciated the cleanliness and the hospitality from Greg and Sue. They really hosted a wonderful stay when the power went out the first night as well as the neighbors. They take care of the property meticulously and are friendly. I recommend and plan on going back if allowed by Greg and Sue. Through strugggles at the park, they continue to guide the brilliance they brought and are bringing to the neighborhood. FYI- It's literally a 20 second walk to the beach! WONDERFUL!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hibiscus Hula Beach Cottage. Walking distance from the beach and you can hear the ocean waves from the house. Felt like a local in this residential neighborhood, not touristy at all. The house was very clean and comfortable, excellent bedding and everything you would need in the kitchen. Towels, beach chairs and plenty of soap for your convenience. The owners live close by and are very nice and respectful. Great central location to a lot of other great beaches and shopping. Would definitely rent this place again.

Our second enjoyable stay at Hibiscus Hula. The location is convenient, and good except there was some night partying across the street at the beach park, including a shouting altercation which ended before the police arrived. Everything was spotless except for the gas grill. The cooking grate obviously had not been cleaned for a while and was covered with moldy, crusty grease which took some effort to clean and burn off. The kitchen is well equipped except it needs a knife sharpener. Lots of knives but all dull!

We loved out three week stay at Hibiscus Hula Beach Cottage. The beds and linens are so comfortabe and the kitchen is completely stocked will all the cooking tools you could possibly need. We loved watching the sunrise every morning and spending the afternoon and evenings sitting on the front porch. The location is perfect, with Kapa'a nearby and Princeville/Hanalei not far away. The cottage is on a quiet dead end street just across from a wonderful beach. The owners are friendly and helpful and live just next door. We felt at home and look forward to spending another 3-4 weeks here next year.

Our stay at the Hibiscus Hula was so nice!! We stayed here for our last week on our honeymoon and it was the perfect opportunity to relax and spend quality time together. The view of the mountains behind the cottage was so nice! We felt like we were in a good location to explore the whole island. Our only issue was the first two nights, people camping on the beach played really loud music and set off fireworks really late at night and into the early morning. Other than that, we had a great stay!!!

Had a great trip to Kauai for our toddler's second birthday. We loved our stay here - he still asks me to "talk about the Hawaii house" :) The owners next door were very friendly, chatted with them daily and got some great local suggestions for food and beaches. Enjoyed the quiet neighborhood away from touristy areas, short walks across the street to the beach, view of the mountains from the kitchen, and relaxing on the porch. A/C was helpful on the hotter days. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful experience. The house was in a terrific location, just a short walk away from Anahola Bay. The small A/C unit worked well to keep the place cool, although we stayed in May when it wasn't terribly hot. The hosts were very responsive.

We had a lovely four days in this modest but thoughtfully decorated "old Hawaii" cottage, which comes with a well furnished kitchen. The owner lives next door, and we welcomed the local information. The beach in front is suitable for a cautious dip. To swim we walked 10 minutes down the beach to a protected cove with a life guard. Locationl is very quiet and convenient to exploring the north shore.

We had an amazing stay at the Hibiscus house. The beach was right across the road and this beach is know you be one of the favorites for family adventures and beautiful long walks. The house had everything we needed to make homemade meals and the kitchen was spacious. The home is very safe and the yard is beautiful and well maintained. It was quite at night with just the sound of the ocean. The location was in the countryside yet you can drive to town in 20 minutes or less. Beach toys, coolers, plenty of towels, lounge chairs and a shade umbrella were also provided to make beach trips complete. We had so much fun and the beach is a hidden gem everyone loved.

Right across from the beach and you can hear the ocean all night. This year there were kids parking at the beach playing rap music with BIG, LOW bass lines, which probably carried for half a mile. On Saturday night at 12:15 I called the cops, and it stopped shortly thereafter. Don't understand why they're not all stone deaf. Hope this fad stops soon....

We had one small issue that I emailed them about on our first morning (the coffee maker was broken), and even though it was a Saturday, they brought by a new coffee maker right away.

I also loved the wonderfully dark night skies we enjoyed just outside the cottage. The location is perfect. Quiet, close to a beautiful beach, and still not too far from any where else on the island. We would recommend this cottage with out hesitation to anyone heading to Kauai, as long as they are fine with stairs. Not only is the front door up a few steps, but the (cute) shower is downstairs with the washer/dryer.

We absolutely loved our time at the Hibiscus Hula Beach Cottage. Greg and Sue (the owners) are warm genuine hosts. The cottage has a very "beachy" feel and we loved all the niceties: updated appliances, covered front porch to watch the sunrise, very large walk-in shower downstairs, outdoor shower to rinse the beach sand off, and on and on.....
The ocean is right across the street: hearing the waves at night puts you right to sleep.
If you are looking for a quiet, cozy get-away, this is the place.

This small vintage home offers a bunch of welcoming island charm. It is in the perfect location on the island for daily adventures in both directions on the island. Easy access to the beach just a short walk down the road. Anahola Bay is beautiful and peaceful. We did wish the brush across the road was not there and we could have seen the beautiful ocean along with hearing it. The owner lives next door and was very kind and helpful regarding the construction that is happening in 2019, which was nothing of concern during our stay. We loved the old vintage charm of the home and would share only one piece of advice...the mattresses are VERY firm so be aware! This was a GREAT rental and the customer service was top notch, I highly recommend Garden Island Properties! Also, if you want a fun adventure during your stay, go to Koloa Ziplining, it was AWESOME! We have visited Kauai several times and this was one of our favorite things we have done.

The house was perfect for us. We have stayed in Hanalei and Waimea regions previously and specifically wanted to explore the east side of the island this visit. The house is in a quiet neighbourhood near the beach with stunning mountain views. We did a lot of hiking in the area and appreciated having everything we needed for our day excursions including insulated lunch cooler extra sunscreen good drinking water etc. They owners have obviously done a lot of thinking about what amenities and extras to anticipate renters might want.

Located off the beaten path perfect for a relaxing get away far from the hustle and bustle. You can walk to the beach and sit all day without seeing another person. Went with our family of four and it was perfect. Kids had an amazing time.

We specifically picked this place because it was out of the way hoping it would allow us to immerse ourselves into Kauai life and we really enjoyed our 9 day stay at this little old place (we moved to the Waipouli Hotel in Kapa’a for the remainder of our trip to give the kids the pool experience). It’s a 50’s house on Kauai so, it’s quirky, but our kids 8 & 5 had a great time looking for lizards, geckos and toads (and chasing an occasional chicken in the spacious back yard). We were out most of the time and thus avoided being inside during warmer part of day, using AC for nights (but, we are from San Diego, so we are somewhat used to the heat anyway). We met our host Greg on the day of our arrival and he walked us through the basics which we appreciated. We found the outdoor shower and the inside shower “bay” VERY useful for handling two kids who would invariably get covered in sand/dirt from head to toe. The beach is across the street and behind a hedge, which we actually found helpful in keeping the 5 yo confined to the property, because the surf is pounding hard there and we wanted to avoid his unplanned beach excursions. The beach itself is ok for adults but, not good for very little kids who may get intimidated by the “big water”, if you drive to the other side (south) of the Anahola beach (closer to guard tower) you’ll be able to swim/snorkel, water is much calmer there (still, watch out for the Portuguese man-a-wars). We usually had breakfast at the house and cooked a few dinners, otherwise it was to-go snacks and lunches on the road, and there are plenty of places to eat in the nearby Kapa’a.

It was that time of year again when my best friend and I were ready to check out of the world and get in some good chill Kauai time! We love staying where the locals live and were fortunate enough to discover this hidden gem in Anahola Bay! This beach house is cute and comfortable with all the amenities you will need to enjoy your time on the island. The kitchen is nice and large, greatly stocked with pots and other cooking gear and ready for cooking some fresh local Kauai fish, fruits & vegetables. The bedrooms are small, but cozy. The bathroom is also small, but if you’ve got 2-3 people max, it’s ok. We thought the indoor shower would be strange since it’s downstairs in the basement on its own, but actually we found it to be great with awesome water pressure! And then there’s the beach. It’s literally a 30 second walk to the beach – and a private one at that! We spent every single day in the water since it literally couldn’t have been easier, plus the outdoor shower at the cottage is perfect to rinse the sand out of all those hidden places after you get back. The view of the magical mountains from the backyard is enough to keep anyone interested and off their phones, TVs and other screens, and the 24 hr. roar of the ocean will leave you wanting to buy one of those sound machines for your bedroom since you won’t be able to imagine going back home and not having that amazing sound every day and night. For your groceries, 10 min up to Kilauea there is a health food market (overpriced, but quality) and 10 min down to Kapaa is a variety of restaurants and shopping. Our hosts Greg & Sue were lovely to deal with and all I can say is that we will definitely be back to the Hibiscus Hula Cottage as soon as possible!

This cottage is the perfect place to explore Kauai from. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The location was picture perfect with the bay across the street and the mountains in the back. Kapaa, which is just down the road, had everything we needed as far as stores and restaurants. We loved Java Kai and Kountry Kitchen for breakfast! Should we be fortunate enough to visit Kauai in the future, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Listening to the surf at night and the birds singing in the morning made for a very relaxing experience. The owner next door helped whenever we had some little detail needing taken care of and supplied us with a nice gift of limes from his place. The kitchen is very well equipped and we did a lot of eating right there. I highly recommend this place and hope to return sometime in the future.

We loved our week ar Hibiscus Hula! The house is comfortable and has pretty much everything we needed. The location is great if you like to be away from the crowds and noise at a resort. The beach is right across the street (
If you swim there wear swim shoes because the rocky reef is close in to shore; I saw some snorkels there but I didnt use The snorkel gear provided so Im not sure if its good snorkeling). The only issue I had were the crowing roosters, they are all over, earplugs helped me sleep through it.
I really loved the location -the view of mountains from the back is gorgeous, and the peek of ocean from the front lovely. Not far up the road is Kilauea Point with gorgeous views, lighthouse, and bird nesting grounds (even Albatross!) and then further along is the north shore, stunning.
I would definitely come back and would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

If you want a ncie simple beach cottage far from the madding condo crowd of overweight, lost midwesterners this is for you. Excellently furnished and run by the family operation of Aussie Greg and his charming Japanese Hawaiian wife Sue.

A beautiful, uncrowded beach is directly across from the cottage. The view is partially screened by vegetation but that is a plus in my view as it provides privacy. The only mnor cavil is that the locals use the beach for weekend cookouts and gatherings. It was not a big deal for us as it gave a feeling of authenticity. Those looking for a more airbrushed experience can join the lilywhites in condoville.

Hibiscus Hula Beach Cottage is a beautiful historic home in a locals neighborhood across from the beach. No large crowds, quiet and simple it is a great experience to live as the locals do for a week.

hibiscus hula was an absolutely lovely and perfect place to stay on kuaui. we walked to the beach across the street in one minute, for sunrise and swimming and walking. the house was convenient and clean and well equipped, with a gorgeous big back yard with all kinds of bird visitors. we could hear the sea all night. i couldn't recommend it more highly.

We stayed with a family of 4 (with 2 kids of 16 and 18 years old). House was very cosy and well furnished (including BBQ) with large grassy garden.

The house is fully equipped and lovely. Very nice set up, kitchen, etc. The backyard is ideal for families and being able to walk across the beach so easily makes a world of ease for those early risers. We have stayed on the island many times before and this is the first time we experienced the annoying noises of the mud/dirt bikes that have loud engines. People ride them on the beach. And so there were many afternoons into the evening where we heard them non-stop. That was disappointing as it disrupted the peace and quiet. My sister stayed here before and it never happened so perhaps it was a fluke. Aside from the dirt bikes, everything was wonderful. Our son loved the gecko's and frogs. The yard is wonderful and so large with a wonderful view.
