Had a great time at Kapaa by the Sea. The location was beautiful, gorgeous views of the ocean. The location cannot be beat - right on the ocean, within 1-2 blocks of coffee shops, restaurants, and stores. The home was clean and well-stocked, with air conditioning in the upper level. Our group of 6 stayed very comfortably. We felt right at home. Would absolutely stay again in a heartbeat!

We picked this house because it had ocean views to wake up to and for the convenience of being located right in Kapa'a. Walk out side the house, and you can walk for miles on the paved beachfront path. Or if you prefer, rent a bike nearby. If you want to sit on the beach all day, then this may not be the right place for you. But if you want to explore all the Kauai has to offer, then this is exactly the right place. Being located in the middle of the island between Poipu and Princeville, the travel times are roughly the same to get there. And don't forget to explore Kapa'a, lots of nice local restaurants and shops. The rental agency was great. The house was spotless when we arrived, they provided clear instructions on how to get into the house, ideas on activities, and responded quickly to our inquiries. 5 stars for sure.

Great place on the east coast to stay. Plenty of space in the house and secure parking. Loved the lanai to enjoy morning coffee and evening.cocktails. Kitchen has everything you need, if you want to save on eating out. Grocery store is close. Places to shop and restaurants within a couple blocks walk. Bike/ walking path right out front. Situated next to a preschool, so if the sound of kids playing bothers you, this is not the place for you. Not luxurious but comfortable, with individually controlled air conditioning in each room. We used the provided beach chairs and mats/ towels on several days. We rented snorkel equipment on our last day and swam with a sea turtle. Definitely visit Poipu Beach Park after 4 to see the turtles come on the beach to sleep. That was highlight of the trip! So was the mountain tubing adventure. Would definitely go back and stay here.

It was our first trip to Hawaii. It was a dream vacation of my moms and We celebrated my parents 55th wedding anniversary. We also celebrated my cousin birthday and her husband. The location is the best. Ocean front and can walk to the street side to shop and eat delicious chicken tacos. This has been a dream vacation of a life time. Hope to come back here again. The property was exceptionally clean. The kitchen utensils were plentiful and perfectly arrange which was nice. The pantry was well stocked with essentials. The view of sunrises was awesome and it was nice to sit on the balcony to watch each morning. No problem with the child care next door (only saw the kids for maybe two hours in our 7 day stay). Property was centrally located for travel to the south and north ends of the island. The home was right on the beach with an 8 mile walking path between the beach and home. Great place to stay!

It’s hard to be disappointed when waking up to the sound of the ocean and watching beautiful sun rises. While some upgrades will need to be done soon it is very nice as is. The convenience of beach & bike/walking path right there and having town just a block away is so nice. The host do a very good job of looking after you while respecting your privacy & allowing you to enjoy your vacation.

wir (4 Erwachsene "best ager") blieben hier 5 tage und haben es genossen. Das Haus liegt zentral und hat eine lebhafte Umgebung , vom großen balkon schaut man über einen öffentlichen weg (Jogger, Fahrradfahrer etc) und ein kurzes grasstück auf das meer / der sonnenaufgang ist von hier aus fantastisch - ein seitlicher balkon bietet den sonnenuntergang (im Januar) - man kann von hier aus direkt schwimmen gehen , allerdings ist der strand hier sehr schmal - das haus ist ok ausgestattet ( entspricht in etwa einem drei sterne hotel in deutschland ) alles ist sauber und gut zu benützen , wenn man nicht zu hohen ansprüche stellt , ist das Haus zu sehr zu empfehlen

It was perfect for the six of us. The best part of staying here was sitting on the liane sipping our morning coffee after a run on the bike path. Having the beach directly across from us gave us the option of swimming without having to drive anywhere as well. Walking into town, literally two minutes away, was another favorite. The only recommendation I would make is to have a larger skillet for cooking since there were so many of us.

Best location in Kapa'a! Only house rental available that is footsteps away from the beach, wonderful sunrise watching from the main balcony. As well anything you would want to eat or shop for is minutes of a walk away. Beautiful location, wonderful accommodations and amenities. We plan to rent this home next time we visit. We've already have friends who are interested. Don't want to tell too many people, because this place is a hidden gem. The only bad thing was we rented a vehicle but never used it, everything was a short walk away, but it was nice to know if we needed to go farther, we had the means. Mahalo GI Prop. I'll start out by saying we would 100% book this property again and probably will the next time we return! It appeared to be the SOLE rental house on the beach along the east coast of the island/Kapa'a area.

We stayed for 10 nights, and had our 2 kids (7 & 10) and for a few days another friend (so a total of 5 people) and had plenty of space. LOVED having the patio looking right at the beach and the sunrise. LOVED being right on the beach and the walking path. And LOVED how we could walk quickly into town and were in a central location on the island as a whole.

It may seem like a minor thing, but it was also great to have a big outdoor area to park and hose down and transition from outside to inside.

While this property was still cleaner than more expensive ones we've stayed at, it does have a somewhat dated look inside and some of the furniture and appliances could use an upgrade.

But the management team rocks -- once we locked ourselves out and they quickly responded and got us back in immediately. And everything we needed during our long stay -- from beach towels & chairs to matches -- was there. Would definitely recommend!

This house has a spectacular view, in a great location. Everything you need is in walking distance. The home is nice and clean and came fully equipped. It gets Dark very early and there is a big homeless population that like to visit the abounded property across the way of the home. I was worried that it could be unsafe at night, but we followed all the safety precautions given by Garden Island properties, and we never felt unsafe , once. It’s a beautiful home, and loved it so much this is our second time visiting this property.

My family of 5 recently stayed in this well maintained rental home that was conveniently located within walking distance to shops and restaurants in Kapa'a and featuring a gorgeous view of the beach (also within walking distance!). I would highly recommend this as a place to stay in Kauai for the location and view, but also because it was easy to access, had all the amenities we could ask for, and was clearly well taken care of by the property managers. We had everything we needed. Hanging out on the patio, looking out at the ocean, feeling the afternoon breeze or watching the moonlight on the water just cannot be beat! As a note, I know there is a daycare close by, but it was never a problem for us. There is an abandoned property (7/22) next door which concerned us, but also was never a problem. Having a gated property helped us feel added security when we rented bikes (within walking distance) or let our kids play outside unsupervised. Also - I like to have a fan in the bedroom and there were multiple fans throughout the house. Rental is full of nice touches such as this. :)

I would love to return but the stairs proved to be difficult for me. I would pay for a "dumbwaiter" I spent all my time on the lanai and absolutely LOVED it. The entire family loved this spot! Having the downstairs bedroom and bath almost felt like a separate apartment for my daughter and son-in-law. Plenty of space to not be on top of each other! The view was amazing, the beach was sandy and swimming was fantastic! Dryer stopped working and someone was out to fix it within hours of speaking to property management. Such an amazing vacation spot! We would absolutely rent this place again!

We stayed 10 nights at "Kapaa by the Sea Beachfront". The house location is amazing. We sat on the deck and watched the sunrise every morning while we drank our Kona Coffee. It was very relaxing. The house is only two short blocks from downtown Kapaa -- lots of restaurants and shopping.
The house is very clean but could use some updating. But don't let this stop you from renting this great house. Each of the three bedrooms has a complete/full bathroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and this home was in a really good location. We could easily drive to other locations and beaches without having to be in the vehicle for too long.
The house is within walking distance of a great coffee shop, numerous restaurants, an ABC store, a natural foods market and more.

Overall - Beautiful ocean view from Lanai (which is why we were there)! We would rent this house again.
Property was described accurately. We knew about the preschool next door but were surprised to find the play area extended halfway across the front of the rental house. There was playground noise but in the end it wasn't an issue for us - somewhat amusing, actually.
Property Manager - No problems; good service.
Cleanliness - Interior was very clean. Outside windows and screens were coated with dried ocean salt spray (which is understandable) but we had to wash lanai windows to get good views through the windows.
Location - Agree with other reviewers. Great location, close to shops, groceries, restaurants, etc. Path is great.
Property Condition - Furnishings and carpet are a bit dated; hard to slide some curtains to open and close. Bathrooms all very clean and looks like they've been recently refreshed (updated). A/C works well (we didn't use too much because we did get good breezes). We only used the upstairs main living area (except for washer and dryer which were great to have and worked well).

This property was a perfect vacation property. We have been to Maui, the big island and Oahu . This property was by far superior to the rest we have rented. The location was incredible, it’s hard to have a place that can entertains young children, teenagers and seniors , This home did just that, It was sceptical . No one reviewed the beach in front of the house, I assumed we would have to travel to a beach for fun. The beach has no life guard , but we watched carefully and the locals are great about letting you know if it’s safe to go in that day. We didn’t go far just stayed close to the shore but that was enough. It was a perfect property for our 10 day stay. The pre school next door wasn’t an issue for us , but then again we work with kids and are used to children laughing and playing. There is a homeless population near the house , but they never bothered anyone and minded their own business. We locked everything up and followed the instructions to the t, and we felt safe. Down side for seniors if they do have mobility issues, there are stairs and carrying bags up stairs can be an issue, but it wasn’t for us. The house was clean and well stocked. It was truly a memorable vacation and I plan on staying here again.

Four of us rented this house for 11 days, and we all agreed we would rent it again if we return to Kauai. We were up early every day, sitting on the lanai with coffee and watching the stunning sunrise. There was a lovely beach for swimming right in front of the house. We could easily walk to shops, restaurants, and bicycle rentals. Often walked the trail along the coast that passed by the house. The furniture is a bit dated, but that didn't matter to us.

We had a great time on Kauai while staying at Kapa’a by the Sea. We spent a lot of time on the covered deck overlookingt the ocean. We enjoyed exploring along the walking path along the beach as well as taking day trips to each side of the island. Kapa’a is easy to get to and easy to explore from. Maintenance was quick to respond to our needs. One drawback for anyone with mobility issues—there are stairs to get into the main entrance and stairs to get to the living area—no elevator. The home is comfortable and reasonable for the price.

The house was nice location was great. You had a few steps to the beach in one direction and the other direction was Kaap'a town. The house does need updating. The two chairs in living room are broken, the futon needs to be placed, and it does have an ant problem which we used windex to kill by living room window. The light bulbs in upstairs bathrooms needed to be replaced. Daycare didn't bother us. You might want to write down somewhere not to move BBQ upstairs. Outside shower is broken unable to use.

I found the property as it was described, beautiful, well-kept, well stocked with the amenities as described, etc! The view is as shown, a beautiful home, right by the ocean! There is a biking/walking trail where you can walk/run/bike & see the ocean! It is safe to swim there. The little town is an easy walking distance with a variety of places to eat and shop. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there & would recommend it highly!

The house is in a central location. You can walk to everything in Kapaa from there. Down side is that there is allot of people hanging around that dead end road all the time. We noticed quite a few drug dealings happening at the end of the road there. Felt unsafe at times. Living room furniture needs to be replaced but beds were comfy. Place was very clean and great size for the four of us. Had problems with gate and air conditioning but management/owner were quick to respond to both issues. Daycare next door did not bother us as it runs during the day. We would stay there again.

I think the location of this property is probably the absolute best thing about it. You just can beat the ocean view along with the easy access to everything in Kapaa, mostly just by walking. I will say I do believe the furnishings/furniture are dated, so if you want freshy-fresh on everything, this is not that. Things were functional in general, but I would say the furniture in particular could use an upgrade from a look and feel and function standpoint. Overall, it was what was promised and the management company kept their end of the bargain.

The view from the house was absolutely gorgeous. Location was perfect. We were able to walk to so much in Kapaa. Loved staying on the east side of the island, made it very easy to drive to the North and South Shores. The house was very clean and had plenty of room for 3 couples. Only 1 thing that I would had changed is we knew the room downstairs did not have air conditioning, but we had no idea how hot it actually got down there. Two of the nights we had to go upstairs and sleep on the futon. The other nights we were ok with opening windows and bringing the fans downstairs.

Great location on the house. Walk to the town for manny funny places. Good distance to see the Island. good with 3 bathrom. Uppstairsbedrom god. Downsatairs need to change the bed and need aircondition. The sleeping sofa in living rom not comfortabel for adult to sleep in and we had asked about that berore renting. So do some new bed and aircondition downstairs then we would love to come back.

We had a fabulous family girl's trip. The house was in a perfect location on the island. We loved waking up to the ocean waves and sunrise's. Being so close to the beach and the bike path was wonderful for all of our family members. We also loved being able to walk to restaurants and shopping. The roosters definitely added character and a show occasionally. We were very glad there was AC for the nights. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We hiked several areas, paddle boarded, surfed, walked and jogged the bike path. The best part of the house was sitting on the lanai watching the waves and occasional whales. We would all definitely stay there again.

The location was perfect and close to lots of restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the walking path everyday. View from all patios was wonderful! Property management was responsive when we had the need for a minor repair. There are only two things that could use improvement: 1. the couches and overstuffed chairs were old, lumpy and very uncomfortable. I would recommend that the owner replace them so that there is at least someplace comfortable to sit. 2. There were too few sets of bath towels requiring us to do laundry too often. I would recommend that the owner buy a few more sets of bath towels. Otherwise...the place was truly wonderful!

Our family of 7 stayed over Thanksgiving. This was a perfect place to stay on kuai. Sitting on the upper lanai watching the ocean every morning and evening was the highlight of our stay. It is right in the small village of Kapaa so shopping was easy. There is a wonderful shop with all kinds of sewing material. Also lots of small shops to browse. Convenient for traveling north or south on the island. I did wish there was an air conditioning unit in the lower level but we got by with the overhead fan. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a nice place to stay that wants relaxation and to sit and listen to the unending sound of the ocean.

Kapp'a by the Sea was wonderful. There is nothing that describe waking up to the sound of the waves rolling in to the beach. This is followed by an awe inspiring sunrise every morning. The parking area easily allowed for two vehicles. The house had everything necessary for our stay. The lanai was a favorite place to hang out, day or night.

Perfect HOME away from HOME

We enjoyed our stay at this beachfront home. The location was good being beachfront with great views, centrally located in Kapaa, and walking distance to local restaurants, shops and some activities like bike rentals (recommend that you do so and bike the public path - a great 1.5-2.0 hour activity).
A/C was a plus, but did not have much impact on downstairs bedroom. Worked nicely upstairs.
Management company was helpful and responsive.

We had a fantastic time with our nuclear family of four, the kids grandparents, aunt, and cousin. The views were stunning day and night. At night, leave the lights off on the lanai and let your eyes adjust. The air conditioning was welcome at the height of the day and kept the place dry. Grandpa could enjoy a little privacy downstairs if the upstairs got to rowdy. The place was clean with no bugs except for the stray fly that was our fault for letting in. This was our 10th anniversary and we're planning on coming back to the same house on our 20th. We've already recommended the place to friends.

The house was clean and well cared for. We were a little worried about having no A/C downstairs, but because of the ocean breezes, it was not an issue. And we were there in the beginning of June 2016. I had seen mention of the daycare next door in some of the reviews but it wasn't an issue for us, either. The folks at Garden Island Properties were gracious and helpful. We have stayed at the posh resorts in Poipu when we have come to Kauai before and this was even better! We will be back!

The location was wonderful, couldn't have asked for better. Perfect size and well stocked home for our needs. Communication from property management on access and logistics was great. Ease of access to the home was great. If we are ever there with a group again, this will be our go to place. Thank you!

This place is terrific, a no brainer if you're sharing with other couples. The house is huge, and the main patio is so great. (we spent most of our time there) the location is perfect if you're planning on staying in kapaa, and it's walking distance to everything you need.

The preschool next door was not as noisy as you would expect, actually the roosters were noisier!

Would book this place again in a heartbeat.

We loved our stay here- the couches are a bit tired, but otherwise it was perfect. A great location 1.5 blocks from the shops and just a walkway between you and the beach. The water wasn't too wavy right out front, even with small kids. I miss that upstairs lanai!

This is our second stay at this property. Each time we brought a son and wife and two grandchildren. This house is perfect for grandkids and family. We let them have the upstairs, and we take the downstairs. It's right on the bike path in Kapaa, which is fabulous. We like the location because it's near grocery shopping and store shopping. Very affordable. Great to be able to sit on deck and see the ocean. Open your windows and hear the ocean at night. We'll likely stay hear a third time when we bring another son. We've got four. Also, the management company was very helpful. Our son didn't bring their pack and play for their 1 1/2 year old. I called them and asked about getting one. They said they had one at their office I could borrow. When I got there, they told the owner they thought it was a good idea to have one on the property -- the owner bought one - we had a new pack and play and I believe they plan to leave it there for other guests.

Fantastic location!! We had a wonderful time! This was perfect for 3 couples. 3BR 3Bath with full kitchen. The deck is great with ocean view. Cannot hear the town from there because of the waves:) We had to buy a corkscrew/bottle opener, foil, plastic wrap, paper towels, dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent. Only 2 kitchen towels but lots of towels including beach towels. There was no fuel for the bbq so bought that. Relatives of house owner live in house behind and they were very nice and fixed a chair for us and brought bananas:) Sheets in master BR smelled funky so washed them 2nd day.
